Privacy Policy

1. Who runs this site?
Flipr is run by a hobbyist. If you have a question or concern, you can reach at [email protected].
2. What data does Flipr collect?
Flipr collects as little as possible. It does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any payment details. Here is everything that is collected:
Anonymous page-view analytics
The site uses Umami Analytics, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable information. It records only aggregated counts — pages visited, rough browser type, and screen size — in a form that cannot be traced back to you as an individual.
Feedback votes
If you click the thumbs-up or thumbs-down button on a corridor page, the site records: the page you voted on, whether you voted up or down, and the timestamp. To prevent the same person voting multiple times, it also stores a one-way hash (a scrambled, irreversible fingerprint) of your IP address and a randomly generated anonymous ID assigned to your browser. The raw IP address is never saved — only the scrambled version, and only the first 16 characters of it.
Browser storage
The site saves a few small items in your browser to remember your preferences. None of these are sent to any server.
| Name | What it stores | How long |
|---|---|---|
| flipr_vid (cookie) | A random anonymous ID used only to prevent duplicate feedback votes | 1 year |
| flipr_vote_{page} | Whether you already voted on a specific page (so the button stays in the right state) | Until you clear your browser data |
| flipr_theme | Your preferred colour theme (light / dark / mono) | Until you clear your browser data |
| flipr_lang | Your preferred display language | Until you clear your browser data |
3. How is this data used?
The analytics data is used only to understand which pages people find useful, so the site can be improved. The feedback vote data is used only to show the thumbs-up count on each page and to prevent duplicate votes. Your browser preferences are used only to show the site the way you like it. That is the full list — there is no advertising, no profiling, and no selling of data.
5. How long is data kept?
The hashed IP and anonymous visitor ID stored alongside feedback votes are automatically deleted after 90 days. After that, only the aggregate vote count (a plain number) is kept. Anonymised analytics data has no personal component and is kept indefinitely to track long-term trends.
6. Your choices and rights
You can clear the flipr_vid cookie and all localStorage entries at any time through your browser settings. Because votes are stored against a hashed, anonymous ID rather than a name or email, it is not possible to look up and delete a specific person's vote — but you can contact [email protected] if you have a concern and the hobbyist behind the site will do their best to help.
If you are in the EU, UK, or California and believe any of your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA apply to the limited data described above, please get in touch at the same address. Because this is a personal hobby project with no commercial revenue, the site is unlikely to meet the thresholds that trigger mandatory GDPR or CCPA compliance obligations — but the intent is always to handle data responsibly and to respect your privacy.
7. Security
All connections to flipr.me are encrypted via HTTPS. IP addresses are hashed before storage and the raw value is never written to the database. The site does not store passwords, payment details, or any sensitive personal information. As a hobby project with no user accounts, the attack surface is intentionally minimal.
8. Children
Flipr is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted a feedback vote and you would like it removed, please email [email protected].
9. Not financial advice
10. Changes to this policy
If anything significant changes about how data is handled, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you are okay with the updated policy.
11. Contact
Questions, concerns, or requests? Email [email protected]. The person behind Flipr will get back to you as soon as they can.
